wedding reception playlist
For our reception, we've opted to use the venue's sound system & create our own playlist in lieu of hiring a band or dj. In other words, we're cutting every possible corner in order to save money. You know how it goes.

Clearly my friends enjoy Thriller so it seems that one will make the cut.
My question for all of you is this: What makes a killer playlist?
We know everyone has different tastes in music. I'd be happy with all oldies (& maybe a few pop guilty pleasures here & there). Most of my bridesmaids love country & my groom would be thrilled if the entire reception consisted of They Might Be Giants. No, he'd also want a little "inspirational hip hop" thrown in there.
I definitely want music that will make people get up & move. I definitely don't want ridiculous cheesy numbers like the chicken dance.
& although I really, truly hate to admit it...we'll likely end up playing Party in the USA. But only because this guy is hilarious.
What's on your do & do not playlist? Been to any weddings lately that had incredible or not so incredible tunes? Please share!
